The IING was established in 1954 and has a proud history of activities and achievements. The latest being, some years ago, the IING was selected as the best Institute on a National basis.
The IING has also celebrated our 70th year in 2024.
In 2007 the Council, after much deliberation, decided to restructure the main goal and activity of the IING to that of Education and Training but without reducing it’s commitment to other activities being social etc.
2008 brought about the notion of having a dual approach to membership and actually, to some extent, returning to the initial practice of individual membership. This dual approach is the retention of corporate membership but with the inclusion of individual membership to be able to build a database of individual members for Training and Educational purposes. The revision and update of the existing database were approached together with the new idea of individual membership.
In 2020 we have restructured our membership packages to 4 different membership options:
Platinum membership
Gold Membership
Silver membership
Individual membership
Each membership option is structured to include certain benefits. Read more here.
This was well accepted in the industry and still going strong.
This new membership approach, in conjunction with retained Sponsors/Partners as well as service providers, is considered to be the main source of financial support for the IING.

The Insurance Institute of Northern Gauteng was established in 1954 and has a proud history. Financial instability in the past also caused the Institute to regress; however, we have grown and moved forward again.
After the financial instability, we saw positive attendance and support from our members.
The target market of the IING is the entire insurance industry, including insurers, brokers, service providers, and suppliers to the insurance market within the area of jurisdiction of the IING, as indicated in its Constitution.
As we continue to grow, we also aim to equip our members with educational CPD training sessions and to develop skills, to support the strategic vision of the Insurance Institute of Northern Gauteng, and to assist our members in effectively managing the consequences of unprecedented change.
