The IING was established in 1954 and has a proud history of activities and achievements. The latest being, some years ago, the IING was selected as the best Institute on a National basis

In 2004 the Council and its activities were restructured with the talented assistance of Justice van Pletzen of the then IBC, as well as Caryn Marchant of Proudly Insurance.

Financial support was obtained from the Insurance Industry and its service providers. The following were our much-appreciated initial Sponsors/Business Partners:

From the Industry:

Santam, Mutual & Federal, AIG, MUAi, APBCO, Legacy, Insure Group, Sharemax, Natsure, First Link, Cre8SA and Alexander Forbes and others

From the Suppliers to the Industry:

Tracker, PG Glass, Glassfit and others..

In 2007 the Council, after much deliberation, decided to restructure the main goal and activity of the IING to that of Education and Training but without reducing it’s commitment to other activities being social etc.

2008 brought about the notion of having a dual approach to membership and actually, to some extent, returning to the initial practice of individual membership. This dual approach is the retention of corporate membership but with the inclusion of individual membership to be able to build a database of individual members for Training and Educational purposes. The revision and update of the existing database were approached together with the new idea of individual membership.

This new membership approach, in conjunction with retained Sponsors/Partners as well as service providers, is considered to be the main source of financial support for the IING.
